AU: The Farm

Just some notes about my farm AU for Claire. Any questions or interest a thread with this plot, just hit me up! Comments are screened. <3

- Nathan Petrelli left her a trust fund to be used explicitly for either college or some other life investment, such as starting a business
- Claire was undecided on how exactly to use this money, so she let it sit for several years while she traveled
- eventually Claire got the idea to create a safehouse for evolved humans
- it was Noah's idea to try a farm, which she could potentially use to create income
- with his help, she found a suitable plot of farmland, with a house and a barn in need of some repairs
- others were brought in to help, notably Rebel (Micah Sanders) and Molly Walker to help with finding those in need of a safe haven
- with Claire and the help she brought in (some professional remodeling was done in addition to all of the DIY work), the farm was soon ready for folks to move in
- she also decided to rescue some animals, first dogs, then a couple barn cats, then goats and chickens
- it's sort of communal living; everyone shares and everyone works together
- the location of the farm is very secret with help from Micah's technopath ability
- Molly finds new recruits and Micah contacts them through secure channels, leading them to the farm
- occasionally Peter or Noah will refer people to Claire directly
- the property consists of a big farmhouse, a barn, and several acres of land
- the house's basement is being renovated and expanded into living quarters and training facilities for the farm's residents
- the house upstairs is mostly where Claire sleeps and heads up operations of the farm, as once the basement is ready for habitation the kids move into very comfortable dorm type rooms
- the "dorms" also have a shared bathroom, recreation/leisure area, and kitchenette
- they are, of course, welcome to use any and all facilities on the property but since they had a lot of input on the basement area, they were able to make it into a very cool hangout and spend a lot of time there when they're not working
- there is still some land that could be used for crops, but they just don't have enough people
- for now they do have some large gardens and are able to grow plenty of fruits and vegetables both for consumption of the farm's residents, as well as for profit
- Claire (and helpers) sell jams/jellies, produce, and other handmade/homemade goods in the small towns near the farm
- she is very serious about security and secrecy, using her many channels to get people to stay there
- she has hidden defenses around the house and surrounding land (mostly in the form of stashed guns and other weapons)
- the farm's residents are all ready and willing to defend with her
- as much as she might like to, Claire doesn't take in just anyone, she has to vet them first
- all dogs are welcome tho
